Just a few laughs on what people said in the 1800s and 1900s. Predictions, most of them doesn't come true. Predicting the future is never easy, that's why fortune tellers tend to keep their forecasts as vague as possible.

Marvel Movies 01-20-2010 Update

Here is a quick updates on the upcoming Marvel movies and let your saliva run down from your mouth with these ass-kicking fan made Thor and Captain America teaser posters.

Iron Man 2

Fin Fang Foom will have a cameo in Iron Man 2, more like an easter egg according to artist Adi Granov. Robert Downey Jr. who shows at the Golden Globe Awards has still a Tony Stark goatee, does it mean he will be doing a cameo on Thor, which is now shooting?

Iron Man 2 will hit theaters on May 7, 2010

Thor

That this movie is a piece will culminate the superhero team-up film "Avengers."

Thor had begun filming last week, and Stuart Townsend was replaced by Joshua Dallas to play Fandral the dashing. Joseph Gatt also confirms that he's a Thor villain, revealing that he's "playing a bad guy with a lot of action" and hinted that he would give Thor "a lot of grief." Remember S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Paul Coulson? Not only he will be back on Iron Man 2 but will also make an appearance on Thor. The presence of S.H.I.E.L.D. only confirms that they are creating a single universe, that will lead to the creation of the superhero team-up film "Avengers." Lastly, director Kenneth Branagh has talked about the status of the movie.

“We have many miles to go and promises to keep, but so far, so good, Everybody’s doing very good work and just a lot of it is so promising. Fingers crossed for everybody and everything. Hemsworth is a great guy.”

Lightning strikes on May 6, 2011.

Captain America

Director Joe Johnston talks about his new The First Avenger: Captain America.

"It's not going to be a Captain America that you expect. It's something different. It is influenced by the comic book, but it goes off in a completely different direction. It's the origin story of Captain America. It's mostly period—there are modern, present-day bookends on it—but it's basically the story of how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America. The great thing about Captain America is he's a super hero without any super powers. Which is why this story, among the hundreds of super hero stories, appealed to me the most. He can't fly, he can't see through walls, he can't do any of that stuff. He's an every man who's been given this amazing gift of transformation into the perfect specimen—the pinnacle of human perfection. How does that affect him? What does that mean for him emotionally and psychologically? He was this 98-pound weakling, he was this wimp, and he's transformed instantly into this Adonis. You'd think he got everything he wanted. Well, he didn't get everything he wanted. The rules change at that point and his life gets even more complicated and dire. For me, that's the interesting part of the story. It's got some great action sequences in it and some incredible stuff that we've never seen before. But at the heart of it, it's a story about this kid who all he wants to do is fit in. This thing happens and he still doesn't fit in. And he has to prove himself a hero—essentially go AWOL to save a friend..."

Expect your shield on July 22, 2011.

Spider-Man

Two weeks ago, there was news about Spider-Man 4 villains - John Malkovich to play the Vulture and Felicia Hardy's appearance. Last week, there was news about scrapping Spider-Man 4 and reboot Spider-Man.

Last, January 11, 2010, Sony simultaneously cancelled Spider-Man 4 and announced that the franchise would be rebooted with a new director and new cast. The reboot film will focus on the teenage years of Peter Parker. Sony confirmed that James Vanderbilt will write the script for the new film. It was jointly announced today by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios that Marc Webb, the director of the Golden Globe-nominated Best Picture (500) Days of Summer, will direct the next Spider-Man franchise.

Spidey is expected to swing back on summer 2012.

Nikon D3000 Overview

The Nikon D3000 is a 10.2 megapixel DX format DSLR camera announced by Nikon on 30 July 2009. It replaces the D40 as Nikon's entry level DSLR. It features a 3.0-inch 230,000-dot resolution LCD monitor, CCD sensor with ISO 100 - 1600 (3200 with Boost) and 3D tracking Multi-CAM1000 11-point AF system which makes it quite similar to the Nikon D200 in these main parts. Initially priced with $599 MSRP, actual prices are much lower.[2]

Like the Nikon D40, D40x, D60 and D5000, the D3000 lacks an in-body autofocus motor, which means that only Nikon F-mount lenses designated with AF-I and AF-S or compatible can be used in autofocus mode. A electronic rangefinder can be used to find focus. All the lenses with an integrated autofocus-motor can be used with autofocus.

Features

- Nikon's 10.2-megapixel Nikon DX format CCD sensor.
- Nikon's EXPEED image processor.
- Camera assisted "Guide" mode.
- Active D-Lighting.
- Sensor cleaning.
- 3.0-inch 230,000-dot resolution fixed TFT LCD
- Continuous Drive up to 3 frames per second.
- 3D Color Matrix Metering II with Scene Recognition System.
- 3D Tracking Multi-CAM 1000 autofocus sensor module with 11 AF points.
- ISO sensitivity 100 to 1600 (3200 with boost).
- Nikon F-mount lenses.
- i-TTL flash exposure system without built-in wireless control.
- File formats: JPEG, NEF (Nikon's RAW, 12-bit compressed)

Reception

Reviews of Nikon D3000 have been generally positive, noting that the image quality of the D3000 is comparable to more expensive 10 megapixel cameras, while recognizing certain weaknesses such as the lack of live view and HD movie capabilities.

Cameron's Avatar Review

Seen it twice, don't know why. It's one of the most anticipated movies of 2009. So, where do I start?

Okay, my first reaction was the visuals - impressive, it has the most sharpest CGI I've ever seen. It's so realistic that you don't even know if it's real jungle or not but obvoiusly you know that already because there ain't floating lands here on Earth. They make the best out of CGI here especially at night scenes, where the luminescent wildlife in the forest shines most. The 400 million budget and 10 years in the making means only one thing and one goal - CGI Perfection.

Characters are blue, yes they are all blue. Na'vis are color blue indigenous humanoids and Jake Sully is feeling blue when he found himself in hopeless situation.

Some said the story is great, well not for me. With a run time of almost 3 hours, it has only a simple plot, not even a twist ending. You don't believe me eh? Okay, here's a quick overview of the film. Jakes arrives on Pandora and operates an Avatar. Learns the Na'vi's culture and giving back intelligence about the natives to RDA. Fell in love with a Na'vi, confessed about RDA's plan and was deserted by the tribe. He betrayed his commander by helping save the Na'vi, end of story. Sounds like you've heard this story before, sounds like "Dances with the Wolves", you know there aren't new modern movies lately that are 100% original.

After I've seen it for the first time, I knew that this was a rip-off of Fern Gully - the characters, plot and the theme itself. It's like a well budgeted and live action version of Fern Gully. It also came to my mind that this movie is influenced by the games like Starcraft and Warcraft. I found a lot of similarities like the Humans being the Terrans and the Na'vi being the Night Elves, bipedal mecha like Terran's Goliath and the big resemblance of Na'vi's Hometree and the Night Elve's World Tree, and the list goes on. I know if I get lost you there, but I know the gamers can tell and even James Cameron.

Despite of what I've said of the plot earlier, I still like this film. Though it may lack my taste, there's a magic in Avatar that I want to see it again just like Titanic. After all, I've seen it twice, I could go for 3rd, 4th or let's make it to the xth time. Too bad I haven't seen it on IMAX.

Oh and wait, there's more. I know it's too early to make a sequel but it's been done considering they made profit from the first. Avatar is coming back this July 2010. Just kidding, it's no sequel, it's just another adaptation of the animated series Avatar, and it was written and directed by none other than M. Night Shyamalana-ding-dong!

Dining Out....at d'Rasa

this blog is actually long overdue..anyway just wanted to share the place where we had our dinner..it is actually our first time to eat at d'Rasa..

December 27,2009 6:30PM, I was suppose to meet my college friends there at d'Rasa and have our small christmas party, but it seems that the meet-up was postponed because not everyone is available on that day.. So, since boj and I don't have plans going somewhere we agreed to have dinner at d'Rasa.

d'Rasa is a restaurant located at the ground floor of Metrodome. Place is cozy, with a smooth background of music. The service is good, staff is accommodating. If you'll go there in group, its better if you'll use their second floor, it is much more private coz there's a part in there where you can sit and relax on their comfy sofa chatting with your friend :). I forgot to mention the food!..OFCOURSE the food is excellent. a little pricey but its ok if you want to bring a special guest for a special dinner. I bet the place would be in full pack this valentines..hehehe

well here are some of our pictures while enjoying our good food at d'rasa.

s'il vous plaît permet de manger(let's eat!--in french)
